Here are some pictures taken.

Troop Camp 2009

6th Fort scouts had their Troop Camp in Hutan Rekreasi this year and it is another experience worth sharing with all of you.
Day 1
The scouts did their camp development. They pitched up their tents, built their gadgets and even boiled water for drinking. After that they built their cooking table. Next, they cooked their dinner themselves (backwoodsman cooking). After their dinner, they had their ice breaking session where the scouts brief about their own patrols. Eg. patrol name, motto, flag design, yell etc. Later, their were given a talk about log books by 6th Fort's assistant scout master, Timothy Leong. Then, the scouts had their supper and went to bed.
Day 2
The scouts woke up at 6 and had their morning exercise. After that, they had their breakfast and proceeded with marching competition. Next, they had their base game where they learn more about basic scouting skills. The scouts later had another base game where the scouts have fun with games after their lunch. After having fun, the scouts had to cook their own dinner (conventional cooking) and bathed themselves. The next agenda after that was night hike. The scouts had their night hike in the Dinosaur Park inside Hutan Rekreasi in pairs. After that they had their supper and headed for bed.
Day 3
It was another wonderful morning when the scouts had their morning exercise. After their exercise, they were given breakfast and morning inspection was conducted. Then, a treasure hunt was carried on. The treasure hunt requires orienteering skills. The scouts were given a compass and clues to find their way to the finish line. It rained at the very end of the treasure hunt. So, the scouts found their shelter brilliantly outside the Kampung Buku Library situated inside Hutan Rekreasi. After that, the rained stopped and they continued with their base game after their lunch and some rest. The base game conducted this time was mainly about sports. Games like rugby, American football, captain ball etc. were played. It started raining again when the scouts were about to play their game in the last base. The rained was so heavy that activities were called off for safety precaution. The scouts sheltered under a big pondok called the Astana beside the field. Most of them are wet and some felt cold but this did not stop the active and capable scouts from dancing and singing themselves away in that heavy rain. Seniors enjoyed singing songs and juniors enjoyed learning new songs. After the heavy rain, the scouts had their dinner and proceeded with their sketch presentation. Next was another night hike. This time the night hike was conducted in patrols and then individuals. The scouts first hiked from the field to the outside of the Botanical Garden in their respective patrols and then hiked back to the field individually using a different track. The scouts went to bed right after their night hike.
Day 4
It was another lovely morning and the scouts were ready for some rough and muddy activities before they go home. They had their commando crossing after their breakfast and cleaned up themselves afterward. Lastly, the closing ceremony was conducted and it was a goodbye to all scouts who participated in the troop's annual event. After that, the scouts went home with a wonderful scouting experience to treasure.

Backwoods Cooking

Today is another day where 6th Fort scouts cook. There are basically 2 types of cooking in scouting.
First will be the conventional cooking. Conventional cooking involves cooking utensils like pot, spatula, wok etc.
Whereas backwoods cooking is a way of cooking such that no cooking utensils are needed. Banana leaves, bamboos etc.
Both ways are able to result in a tempting and delicious meal. All it takes is just some seriousness and hardwork.
We are very unfortunate today because we have no photos to share due to unforeseen circumstances.
Just for your information, the dishes that 6th Fort scouts cooked today were chocolate twist, bread twist, chocolate in orange, otak-otak and sausage in capsicum.
Once again, well done to all 6th Fort scouts who attended and obtained extra knowledge from the meeting today.

Forever forward !
